Ask:
I'm havin' some pretty low bp readings,, been symptomatic since Saturday night,, and having a TON of trouble getting seen. The first appointment they have for me is NEXT WEEK,,, we discussed me going into urgent care,,, cause I can't feel this way for a WEEK! but,,, can they DO anything? anyone know?
Answer:
How low are you talking about? Many young women, particularly if they're thin can have systolic pressures (the top number) below 100. So unless it was 80 or lower I'm not sure they'll think it's an emergency. So 90 or above (unless it's unusual for you) is probably fine.
Answer:
My blood pressure is usually really good,,, 110ish over 72ish *not young OR thin* lol
it's been down to 88/55 ,, seems to want to stay about 87/60,, don't know that i'd call it an emergency at all, but i can't feel weak/foggy for DAYS lol
Answer:
Well that is quite a bit lower than your normal BP. You're not dehydrated are you? That can cause low BP. But if not, then you do need to be seen. HTH
Answer:
Yep, enough lower that i've felt really crummy. Went in,, have a med to be discontinued *last time I took it was friday night,, but they said it'll take up to a week to 'work outta my system'* In the meantime, my fluid intake has dropped a LOT recently, so I'm to increase that and take some plain ol' sudafed to help me feel better for a few days 'til the issue resolves.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and try to help me figure things out, I appreciate that.
Answer:
I think you need to get into Urgent Care. Mine went down to 70/47 and it was an emergency. Go, go!
I would also change doctors.
Answer:
the 'doc' situation really ROTS.. it's a rural health care branch for we folks in the 'boonies',, and they've recently lost all but ONE provider,,, so, now they have ONE new guy to see everyone,, it's CRAZY
Answer:
I went to the doctor today and I have a severe case of tonsilitis, but she also said my bp is pretty low (92/60'ish)...I'm overweight, so that's pretty unusual. I do take thyroid meds and she was concerned that the dosage needs to be increased...she also is checking for anemia and anything else that seems out of whack. It would definitely explain why I've been SO exhausted for a long time now.
Answer:
What is your pulse? If your BP is low and you have a fast pulse, I'd go to urgent care just to be checked out.
Sudafed - or any of the antihistimes that raise BP - will help BUT make sure you're diligent on your fluid intake. No sense taking an antihistime that will dehydrate you more!
Any chance of internal bleeding? Change in bowel habits, vomiting? Abdominal tenderness or distension? Change in vision? The doctor's office asked you all these questions, right?
Answer:
I have always had low blood pressure. It typically runs in the 90's over 60's. I have had it drop lower when I was pregnant. I had to restrict my activity a bit because when I would get up from sitting or lying down, I would get dizzy. I have never had any other problems.
