Ask:
No flaming those who post who don't but do you insist your child wear a helmet on a bike? I've seen to many kids with head injuries so my girls know it's a rule they have to wear a helmet. I see alot of kids without them. What do you do?
Answer:
We do...it's the law where we live.
Answer:
We do.....on bikes and scooters.
Answer:
We are usually pretty good while they are learning, but then we lax off. Now in the new house, there isn't really anyplace to ride except for in the yard ~ and we don't enforce it at all.
Answer:
Yup, with bicycles, scooters, and roller skates. Not with ice skating, though, she refuses because no one else wears them unless they are playing hockey.
Answer:
We do - and sometimes include knee & elbow pads too - bikes, scooters & roller skates.
Answer:
we do and dd is only 2 she wears one when she is in the bike trailer
Answer:
I personally am not a 'biker' and I never wore one as a child but that was before they became popular.
But dh likes to bike ride and always wears a helmet and insists that ds do as well which is just fine with me. Better safe than sorry!
Had to edit to add that I had no idea it was a law here (both Oregano and I are in Ohio). Well not that there was any question, but that is that!
Answer:
I do. I'm like Stormy in that when I was growing up, it wasn't "cool". However, in my Sr. year of high school, a girl in my class, who was a cheerleader, very popular, nice, smart, etc., etc., bright future, got hit by a car and went into a coma. She came out of it, but had severe brain damage. If she'd been wearing a helmet, it would have saved her. That stays with me. So my kids will wear them.
Answer:
Always. No helmet, no bike (I even made him ride one on his tricycle, I wanted him to get used to wearing one whenever he was on something with wheels). I never wore one when I was little either (it just wasn't done then), but that is no excuse for me not to now when we know how much safer it is for them to wear them.
