Sorry if this needs to be moved.
Found out today that I have mastitis. I noticed last week a small spot on my breast that felt kind hard and hurt and over the days its gotten bigger. So I went to Urgent Care and they told me it was mastitis and wrote me a prescription.
I know some of you have delt with mastitis. How was it for you??
Answer:
Baaaaaadddd. I got hospitalized. Dehydration, flu symptoms - many times.
Best is to hit it early w/antibiotics, rest and go to bed w/baby nursing. It hurts! Ice the area, and warm showers. Pump if baby won't nurse, but try to keep it emptied as much as you can.
Get better! Keep the Ibuprofen and Tylenol going - altering times...
Answer:
i had a severe case--had to stop nursing
Answer:
I had it too while nursing. Quite painful. I was told to continue to nurse and to nurse on that side first. While it hurt to do so, I think that it definately helped clear it up faster.
Answer:
I had it, too. Blech. Make sure you're stocked up on diaper cream, because those antibiotics can give your kiddo some fierce diaper rash.
Answer:
I had it as well, and the flu symptoms were worse than the actual pain in the breast. My body was throbbing and the fever didn't help matters! I will say that within 24 hours of antibiotics, I felt so much better, but I was in the shower trying to continue the flow of milk several times and that helped too. I too nursed as much as possible on that side.
