Cute & Frugal party loot-bag ideas?

Ask:
Having 6yo son's Bday party at local paint-your-own-pottery place. About 10 kids, co-ed, all kids about same age. Any cute/frugal/WOW-type ideas for loot bag? Or maybe a small, token gift instead of the ususal candy loot bag everyone gives out? Maybe an art-theme? Needs to appeal to girls & boys. Thanks!
Answer:

What about a small make your own puzzle or picture frame? You could take a group picture at the party & send to everyone for their frames.

Very original, thanks!

What about a sketch book and some of those water color paints. When I saw sketch book- I mean just a pad of paper- maybe at the dollar store, big lots, walmart. Maybe colored pencils of just pencils with a cool eraser and some paper. You could even get some sidewalk chalk and give each kid a piece along with some of the above items.
Just trying to keep with the "art" theme.
Answer:

I'd give them a water color paint set (you know like the ones kids need for school). Or you could go get those craft kits from oriental trading, and give one to each kid. THey are usually pretty cheap and they have tons of themes.

My dd's favorite gift bag item she has received is a whoopy cushion. Quickly became annoying to myself though

Target $1.00 racks usually have something you can give as gift bag goodies. Dollar Tree has nice party stuffers as well. What about crayons, markers, sugarless gum, pencils?

This idea probably won't help you now, but I always stock up on back-to-school items and use those for treat bags throughout the year. I have a Sterlite container in my basement that has colored pencils, erasers, pads of paper, glue, crayons, you name it. If it was cheap during back-to-school I bought it, and a lot of it. Some of those things are $.09 each or $.15 each. I have a rule: I refuse to pay more than $.25 for a treat bag item. I don't like buying junky things either, like rubber spiders or plastic stuff. Then, I throw in some token candy. I put all this stuff in smallish gift bags bought at Wal-Mart. It's a big treat bag but doesn't cost a lot per person ($2.00) and it's all mostly stuff they can use.

Brilliant! I know Walmart always has that big sale in July or so, note to self!!

Thanks, all!

Oriental trader is so inexpensive you can purchase all sort of craft aand loot bag traets. For my daughters party we are having it at home and doing a Luau theme. They sell leis twelve for around three dollars, we are going to make picture frames I gathered old baoxes from work, cut out squares and glued construction paper on top and purchased the magnets from oriental trader to make magnets. The cool thing is they also have hawaiian crafts to glue on top. I also purchased snacks in bulk for the treat bags.

Check them out it's pretty cool.

I second Oriental Trading Company, our school buys little trinkets from them for kids to spend the AR points they earned from reading.
