Double Stroller?

Ask:
Hi Moms! I am pregant with baby #2 and we have a 3 and 1/2 year old. He will almost be 4 when the new baby arrives. My question is should I buy a double type stroller (like a sit and stand)? Will he really stand on it? Is it worth it? Or should I just trust him to walk with me all the time (which he is not the best at ... he's a real runner if you know what I mean!!). Any advice will be great!
Answer:

Mine was 2 when my 2nd was born. He still is a runner. I depend ony my doublestroller. It goes to the zoo, errands, park, playgroups, etc. It is my lifesaver and I would def suggest getting one.
Answer:

There is no way my kids would sit in a stroller at that age. I would not spend the money. Maybe a good harness.
Answer:

I love my sit and stand! I use mine all the time with the daycare. Works great.
Answer:

We have the Jeep stroller from Walmart that has a toy wheel in the front - it keeps my 3 year old pretty well occupied when she needs to be in a stroller. I think it depends on your child and what you think he will be more likely to do. Good luck!
Answer:

My son will be four in August and he doesn't use strollers anymore. IMO i wouldn't bother with the double stroller. When i am with the little girl i watch and my son i have him hold onto the handle of the stroller that way i still keep him close to me.
Answer:

I wouldn't bother with a double stroller for an almost 4 year old - especially if he's close to the weight limit for the stroller. If you have issues with him running off, I would consider looking into buying one of the harnesses. Safety 1st makes an Elmo one that I used for my 2 year old for awhile after my younger son was born. I never actually used the harness part, just slipped the "leash" part around his wrist and put the handle around mine. He got exercise that way but I didn't have to worry that he would run off and get lost or hurt - you don't want to have to run after a wayward child when you've got an infant to worry about as well. We didn't actually use it that long before I felt comfortable enough letting him go out without it. Just a suggestion.
Answer:

When my second was born I had the same question. I bought a second hand one so I would not spend too much money in case I did not use it often. I used it and was happy to do so but my oldest was only 2 at the time. Now that he is 3 he does not want to sit in a stroller anymore. Sometimes when he is tired he stands on the stroller so maybe a sit and stand one is a better choice.

Do you have someone you could borrow one or the other from just to try before you spend the money??
Answer:

NO don't buy it! I had the sit and stand and it was great when my older ones were under three. But my kids refused to ride in a stroller after they were two anyway, so we sold ours on craigslist awhile ago. Now my 4 year old and 3 year old walk everywhere. If you can afford it or find a used on the Peg Perego P3 Freestyle is the one I have now, it has two "steps" that a toddler could stand on in the rear, but my older ones have never used those either! Anyway, i think a double isn't needed for your older child!
Answer:

My kids are 1 1/2 and 3 1/2, when my daughter was born I had a double stroller but that recently died so I got the sit and stand which I love! My son can hop on to rest a bit, my only complaint is the lack of storage/cup holders!
