Happy Tears....why?

Ask:
Why do happy things make you cry? I cry more over happy things than sad ones. Things where you can see that someone has tried and succeeded at something, proud moments. Do you do this and what's that all about?
Answer:

YES!! It all started w/my stepson graduating kindergarten and then every time he'd score a goal playing soccer or saying his lines correctly in the school play. He is now almost 16 and if he hits a home run, I still get teary-eyed. Now it's about to start all over as my dd is graduating preschool June 1 and will play all her sports and stuff. I cried when my kids first said I love you also! (even though I was the only one who could understand it!!)
I guess it is just the overwhelming sense of pride and proudness of our offspring!!
Answer:

I can think of two times I have had happy tears... watching the birth of my grandson, and seeing the special needs boy I took care of for 5 years pedal his adapted tricycle by himself several yards.

For me I think it was half joy and half relief - I don't know of any scientific reason. I hate crying so I avoid it at all times. There are other times I could cry happy tears but I just won't give in to it.
Answer:

I have been on AD for so long I don't cry very many tears happy or not. If I wasn't on AD, I would cry over everything.
Answer:

I do and its so much worse now that I'm preggo. Its ridiculous.

I think its just an overflow of emotions that have no other outlet. There are plenty of times when I get teary eyed about things my dh does for me.
Answer:

I cry over EVERYTHING!!! I'm "dreading" the Memorial Day parade (Dh is in it-he's a firefighter) and how to explain to my girls why mommy's crying at a silly parade!!! I don't know if it's the patriotic thing, seeing people so happy, or what, but I'm a blubbering fool at everything with any sentiment at all. It's definitely been heightened since I had my first dd, almost 5 years ago, but I can't even use the pregnant excuse right now!!

I was just thinking about this the other day when I was talking to my aunt who's young neighbor just died , and how I don't know how anyone made it through the funeral, as I would have been sobbing out loud. I actually had to excuse myself from my DH's uncle's funeral a few years ago, because my crying was so loud Wish I knew why, I chalk it up to just being a very emotional person. Oh, and don't get me started on hearing kids sing, like in a chorus or school assembly....
Answer:

vtmom, Oh my goodness, me too. Hearing little kids singing gives me goose bumps and cry every time!!! They just sound like little angels....<sniff>
