Have you do you know anyone who has done something to teach their children that some might find shocking?
A coworker, who is a nurse, found her boys playing with matches. The next day she took them to the burn unit (she had this okayed with the nurse manager, burn doctor, and the mother of the child). She had them see a child that had been burned by playing with matches. Hard lesson to witness but it got through to them. The boys were 6 and 9. They didn't actually witness any of the painful tub bathes or the dressing changes so I didn't think she took it to far but others did.
When I was in nursing school I used to joke that I would pull out the Mosby dictionary when my girls were old enough to think about sex so they could see what different std's look like. Anyone who has seen this book knows it has some rather gross pictures.

When my kids were little and they would test the waters with biting. I bit them back, not hard, but hard enough to get their attention. All of them only bit once. They don't know what it feels like to be bitten only what it feels like to their teeth, soooo, lessen learned! I did the same thing with hair pulling too. It, too, worked like a charm, I only had to do it once.

Well for me i tend to bring up jail alot. I want my boys to know that even as adults there are consequences to making bad choices. For example today my son did not want to go to school. I told him that parents who do not send their children to school can be fined alot of money or even go to jail. He understood then that i could not just let him stay home anytime he wanted to.

Just for the record i would never go to this level to teach sex education .......but there is a true story about the Dentist and his wife here in town.Well, apparently when their 3 boys,who are all close in age, reached the age of puberty, the dentist and his wife decided the best way to teach their sons about sex is to show them a home made video tape of themselves having sex with each other. I know as a preteen/teen just the THOUGHT of my parents having sex was enough to make me wanna hurl, the last thing i wanted to do was actually watch a video of it!! Oh but the funniest part..........someone broke into their home and stole a bunch of items, including the home made videos Dh says it will probably end up on the internet.....Dr R___ drills it home!
His wife is also known to mow the lawn at his dentist office in her bikini in the summer, to the delight of all the boys/men in the neighborhood!

Wow! Tanya, I cannot even imagine that! Are you SURE it is true??? That has to be a rumor the boys started. YUCK! What was the point? To gross them out or to show them how to do it the proper way? That just makes no sense to me! Not saying you are lying, but maybe somebody who told the person who told the person who told them, etc. embellished a bit? I sure hope so!
I am sure I have, but I can't think of any right now. Probably giving them pop tarts for breakfast when we are on vacation is scandalous. I don't know. I am pretty vanilla.

It's true,,,,my cousin Jeremy used to hang out with those boys, they actually showed him the video tape, he said it was very weird and ackward to have those boys pop the tape into the machine and say " check this out".........YUCK. I guess they have no inhibitions and think it's perfectly normal.
