Ask:
I will be flying next week back to the states to visit my family..TOTAL HOURS??? 14 here I am pregnant and with a toddler. Thank God I have my husband going with me the whole trip. Bad news??? I hate flying with passion not to mention I have a motion sickness problem. Then we have to deal with DS being jet lag going there and coming back. DH said I should let DS stay up all night the night before we leave so that he will be sleeping in the plane and awake when we arrive in the states. That's going to be a lot of work. That's going to mess up his sleeping schedule. He's sleeping good now 9pm-9am.
Answer:
Bless your heart! That is a long time for a little one on a plane. I don't know if I would try to keep him up all night, it may make hime over tired and extra cranky. Maybe just let him stay up later than usual and then wake him up a little earlier. Also take lots of things for him to play with. Good luck!
Answer:
I would strongly suggest keeping him on his regular schedule if you are only going be gone for a few days. It is much easier for the adults to adjust their eating/sleeping schedule than the little one and you will be exhausted when you get back.
On the plus side - you will be eating at off-peak times, so restaurants will be emptier. If you are relying on family to cook for you - just pick up some fast-cook items at a store that you can prepare yourself and keep him eating at the same time, which will also give him a better chance to sleep at the same time.
Good luck!
