Ask:
1 c butter
2 c vanilla baking chips
4 eggs
1 c sugar
2 tsp almond extract
2 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/4 c any flavor of berry jam
2 c vanilla baking chips
1/2 c sliced almonds
Preheat the oven to 325
Grease a 10x15 pan.
Over medium heat, melt butter. Remove from heat,add 1 cup vanilla chips, but don't stir.
In large bowl, beat eggs until foamy.Slowly mix in the sugar. Stir together the soft chips and butter, and blend into the egg mixture and add the almond extract.
Combine flour and salt; stir into the batter until just mixed. Spread half of the batter into the pan.
Bake 15 min(til golden brown)
Over low heat, warm jam to make it runny.
Spread the jam over the warm crust(to about 1/4 in of sides).
Stir the remaining cup of vanilla chips into the batter, then drop the rest of the batter by teaspoonfuls over the jam. Sprinkle with almonds.
Bake for an additional 20 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center, comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack before cutting.

I think bar cookies are great for picnics...you can do alot with em...plus you can feed alot of people with one good sized tray!!!
