Wish me luck!

Ask:
I'm having a meeting with my two bosses today at noon. I do all medical records, appointments, etc. for a group home. My one boss, the one I report to, realizes what I do and would like me to keep my job. The other boss, the one with the most control in the company, really hasn't a clue what I do and would like to get rid of my position. I've reported all of my hours to him but he really doesn't have a clue. He thinks the rest of the staff has the time to do all the medical involved, maybe they do, maybe they don't.

I work part time and I, for the most part, pick my own hours and I am able to work a lot from home. I also enjoy the job and my time spent with the boys. And I can say I do a pretty decent work. As you can see I'd like to keep this job! But I'm 8 months pregnant and as the one boss suggested to me this morning, "With the second baby coming, you probably will want to leave, and we need to discuss this transition." That's why we're having the meeting.

I have no intentions of leaving on my own and if they want to get rid of me that's fine but they can at least lay me off so I can get my unemployment. At this point in time there is no way I could get another job and though the income is not what we live on it is well used. Anyway I'm working myself up for whatever battle is presented before me. It doesn't help that I've also been sick with a cold all week!

Wish me luck! I have to clean my house as they are coming here for the meeting.
Answer:

Sounds to me like you're getting fired for being pregnant. You know, they don't want to have to pay for your disability, etc. Document, document, document!

And best of luck to you!
Answer:

Good luck!! I hope it all works out! Keep us posted!
Answer:

I agree w/Cookie - sounds like they are up to something that could be construed as illegal.
Answer:

Well I got downsized today. Business is going in a new direction. That t ype of thing. I pretty much expected it but I'm still upset. Who fires the pregnant lady?

My husband and I have worked for this place for the past five years almost. And David turned in a months notice last week to start a new position at a new school. Like I said in an earlier post the one boss never felt a real need for me and we suspected that this might happen. But it still sucks.

Anyway, last day is June 15 ... baby is due June 23. I checked on my unemployment awhile back and it be decent. I'm just mad!
Answer:

Wow, that would make me SO mad!!! DH was let go about three weeks before I had our last baby and it was a scramble to get a new position with insurance. SO stressful--I am sorry this is happening to you!!!
Answer:

Were you paying for short term disability at this job?
Answer:

That STINKS!!! Im sorry. I got fired when I was 8 months pregnant with my 1st baby. But it was because of my bad attitude. Im sorry you lost your job.
Answer:

Money wise and insurance we'll be fine. Our insurance has always been through my husband and his new job's benefits are like 10 times better. At least with the new insurance I have a hope, be it a small hope but still a hope, that the baby's birth will be covered. Our last insurance didn't even cover the baby though we asked them several times to change that! Money, well, I didn't make that much and we'll just have to tighten up a bit and I did check my unemployment benefits awhile back and that will help us out. Like I said this wasn't completely unexpected especially when my husband put in his own notice.

I'm letting myself mope today and probably tonight as well ... I had about a good forty-five minute cry and tomorrow I'll bounce back and figure out what to do. I wish my husband was home tonight but right now he's working both jobs and his old job requires three overnight stays. My mother assures me that these bosses were jerks and that I will be better off in the long run -- and I know she's right. But it still sucks!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I just needed to vent a bit.
Answer:

P.S. At least I didn't cry in front of them! I waited until they left!
