Ask:
Do you rent yours or do you own it? (I am talking larger ones 120, 250, 500 gal).
We are trying to purchase a NEW tank and NOBODY can help me. I have called the 3 propane suppliers in the area, and they all rent then sell used, but can't tell me where I can buy a new one.
Anyone have any ideas???
Answer:
Hmmm good question. I will ask dh tonight when he gets home.
Answer:
Umm...I'll have to ask. I think you can buy new ones from our propane company though. Ours is a million years old now but I'm almost certain you can.
Answer:
We own ours, but it was at our house when we bought it. But, you can buy new ones from our propane provider.

That's what I was told, but one doesn't sell them at all, one will only sell used ones to you after you have rented it for a year, and the other one doesn't call me back.
Aarrrrrgh!
Answer:
We own ours. We have a 500 gallon tank to support our full house generator (already filled for hurricane season). As I recall, if you rent you can only get filled up by the company you rent from, if you own you can switch companies very easily, this is especially important when trying to get refilled after a hurricane!
Answer:
Ours are only 100 lb ones- can you look into a local supplier that does refills? I know in our area- we bought ours so we were not dependant on the companies coming here when they were available (the 100 is easier for DH to carry). We bought ours from a supplier- they do sell larger sized ones I believe- they also sell welding supplies- maybe check for a propane company that also sells welding supplies- HTH! BTW- the local company's name is Pro-Gas- hopefully you have one in your area!
Answer:
We have two for our spa. We bought them. BUT, after awhile, it was smarter to use theirs, as the valves wear out and we changed to ones w/newer valves. We still "Own" the tanks, but they have been switched out.
You can call a swimming pool/spa company and see who they do business with, as it was recommended that we own ours. It used to cost us $80 to fill them up, the latest ws $140, but I could just imagine what it would be if we did it right now.
