Ask:
Here's a spinoff on the buying clothes ahead of time thread. Which stores have unlimited time on their return policies? Which stores will you go out of your way to shop at because they make returns so much easier? WHich stores have terrible return policies?
Answer:
Landsend is the BEST when it comes to returns. I don't know how they do it but they are amazing. I will pay more to buy their stuff because I know they have high standards and if the product doesn't hold up to their standards, they will make it right.
I Landsend.
Two examples:
Two years back we bought a pair of water proof winter boots from Landsend for ds. He wore them for the whole year and at the end of the year I noticed his feet were wet one day. The seem had come apart. I called their customer service #. They said they would ship out another pair that day (before they had the return) and I just needed to ship back the boots. I wasn't terribly happy about shipping back the boots until a week after that I got a check in the mail from them to cover my shipping costs!
A friend of ours bought one of their water proof sailing jackets ($200+) that was guaranteed for life not to leak. 10 years later it wasn't water proof anymore. He sent it back and got a brand new one at no cost!
I don't know how they manage it when people take advantage (because they must) but I have been so impressed with this company over the years, I can not say enough good things about them.

I used to love Wal-mart's returns! Now it's like pulling teeth! I thought it was just our Wal-mart. I remeber one time my cousin brought in a Power Wheels that her dd had for over a year and they took it back. One day, I bought dh some boots there and they hurt his foot. He wore them for about 1 hour and they refused to take them back because they had been worn!
Answer:
Carters outlet and Oshkosh outlet have a no time limit policy. I usually write on the back of the receipt a brief description of the clothes, in the order they were rung up. I have returned stuff over a year after I bought them and have had NO problems getting my purchase price.
Answer:
REI

and you get annually dividend.
Examples
My dd had a coat for two year the zipper broke, they gave me store credit to pick a new one.
Had a hiking back that I used for a diaper bag about six year, the strap started to come apart. They refund my check card for the purchase amout.

Kohl's doesn't have an expiration. With a receipt, you'll receive the amount you paid in the same tender you used.

L.L.Bean is this exact same way. One year I got DH a secondhand coat from them. I don't know if it had the little bitty tear in the elbow or if he finally put it there but when we brought it back eight years later(no telling how old the jacket really was) they gave us a store credit in the amount it would cost to replace the jacket. I could never spend that much on a jacket even if it technically wasn't my money but we sure did have fun hitting all the clearance racks I love them!
Answer:
Unless they've changed it recently, Costco has a fantastic return policy.
