Ask:
Reading how everybody saves money growing a garden and also how the vegetables taste much better, I'm thinking about starting a small garden with vegetables. I want this to be a success so I was thinking to only go with easy vegetables to grow.
Any ideas or suggestions for a begginner

This website was posted in a previous thread. It is geared towards kids but it gives all the basic info you need to get started.
My first garden I grew leaf lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucmbers, and zucchini. They are all easy to grow. Tomato plants need to be tied to stakes as they get bigger, cukes and zucchinis multiply at a fast rate so give them lots of space and keep in mind each plant will bear several. Leaf lettuce is easiest to grow, just use scissors to cut ripe leaves, it will continue to grow. If you have any other questions pm me I will be glad to help.

Here is the thread of the website I think goin24/7 is talking about
It's my first year for a veggie garden also. I have just tilled up the sod, I am adding manure and tilling it in today. It's important to me to have easy to grow veggies this first year so that I have success and don't get discouraged for years to come so here is what I am starting with ~~
Sweet corn
Green beans
tomatoes
peppers
zucchini
cucumbers
I have heard from many that they are all really easy to grow and yield tons.
We'll have to see. I do know this, if you are planting from seeds (I am only planting my corn from seed this year) plant them is stages so that the harvest is spread over a time frame not all at the same time. Or if from plants (like tomatoes) plant a couple of varieties that harvest at different times. That way you are overcome by veggies and not able to eat all you've grown

I really enjoy yougrowgirl.com it's a fun gardening site. They also have put out a book with the same title. Truthfully though just jumping right in and attempting a garden is the best route. I find with myself that I tend to over read the subject and not actually do anything! Good luck! I'm gowing my first real garden this year and it's an adventure!
