Ask:
Do any of you work from home besides the surveys? If so how did you find that job, how well does it pay, etc?
I'm looking for something resonable to bring in some extra cash. I do not want to do Avon or Mary Kay. Nothing Ihave to put money out to start with or anything like that. Even stuffing envelopes would be great (but I've heard even that is a scam).

Thanks for the thread! It was very informative. This is a subject that is on my mind because I was just recently unemployed. My last job I was able to work many of my hours from home and, more importantly, I was able to pick my own hours, but that is about to be gone. I'm trying to figure out where to go from here.
I think all too often women want to stay in the home and keep things "normal" in the family while providing an extra income. It seems like such a grand idea of writing the all-American novel while your children are napping! But, and this is something I am finding within myself, all too often these same women are afraid of taking the leap, using their abilities, going for the education or providing the start up money that, from what I can see, is almost always needed when you start a home based business.
Anyway, thanks for the thread and all the information that everyone has provided but does give you something to think about!

This is a good time to think about it, too, since you're still in the "groove". It gets hard to reorganize your life after you've been home and have a "home/baby" routine set up. Just know that you'll be really, really busy in those first few months, so cut yourself some slack.

I work from home for a direct sales company.. Yes I did have a start up cost. It is $149 now.. But to start your own business that isn't bad..That was for the kit to show products and supplies to get me through my first few shows. The money is there to be made. If you work in direct sales and love what you do and sell you can make alot of money..

I have a job in which I speak to people living overseas who want to improve their English by talking to a native English speaker 10 minutes x 5 days a week. I use an Internet phone and had no start up costs (all provided by my employer). It's a very cool job and I've met some very interesting people.
