Answer:

I really think that the military should offer a type of enlistment for single parents male or female to enlist and represent their country at a fixed base or office so they can be there for their child. I am talking about the ones who do not have an ex spouse or ex significant other who will take their child when they are sent away. They could possibly get paid a little less or have to stay enlisted for an extra year or something. This could be offered as an enlistment option so the military would not come off as being sexist.

If the military trys their best not to send both a mom and dad of the same family away at the same time so their children will have a parent with them then they should consider this as well for the sake of the children.

This is definetly one of the reason why I got out of the service. I was pregnant and I know after I give birth they will send me after my maternity leave is over. I've already been told. That leave DH caring for our son but he is also in the military and can get send anytime. So who left to take care of DS? if we were to go together the odds of us coming back alive is not guarantee so I got out. It is a problem in the military right now, that's why women who are divorce and single they have to have a "family care plan" without it you can get kicked out. A lot of my friends did or they will make you have one. It's like forcing someone to put someone else name on the paper to take care of your child when you get deployed. How sad is that?
