My boss is thinking of getting me and her laptops or notebooks and asked me the difference. I have NO idea! Anyone? TIA!
Answer:
The terms "laptop" and "notebook" seem to be used interchangeably...I'm not sure if there is a difference of not.

Good luck!
Answer:
When the computers were larger, the ones you could carry around were called "luggables" - they were portable, but large and heavy. Once they were small enough to use on a plane and sit on your lap they started to be called laptops. Then they went down in size, with the aim of the size of a notebook, thus the name. Now, of course, you have the PDAs - personal digital assistants that they hope will eventually have the same power as a notebook.
So....laptop is the older name for these computers - but notebook/laptop these days is the same when you're talking about today's computers.
(I used to be a buyer for a computer company)
