I'm thinking we need more CHALLENGES in here. Every other forum has 'em so I am trying to think of a way we can challenge ourselves in here.
My first thought was : Learn something new about your preschooler today. We all have busy busy schedules and lives, but I"m thinking at a quiet point in the day, we should reconnect with our kids and find out something new.
Today I asked my four year old "what do you miss the most about your preschool?" and he told me "eating cookies with marshmallows in them". Here I was thinking "my friends" when really he was thinking with his stomach!!!
Then later after we had been on a walk I asked "Did you like looking at the turtles at the park with daddy the other day?". His response "yah it was gross seeing their guts on the road"> (didn't realize they had stopped to see what they thought was a sun bathing turtle in the middle of the road)

I love to listen to my son's description of a circumstance (in his words). This weekend we met a friend and her two children for a "play date." The friend's youngest child threw tan bark on my son--for no reason whatsoever. She simply piled it onto a pretend grocery counter and then swooshed her hand across it, covering my son in jagged, dirty tan bark.
When we discussed the "play date," my son said:
"When we go to sliding board again, dat little girl not be there?"
I said, "No. She lives far, far away & she doesn't visit often."
He furrowed his little brow and said, "She frow tan bark on me."
I said, "I know. That wasn't very nice of her, was it?"
He said, "She bad."
Apparently his brief interaction with her made a very bad, and memorable impression.

My son is one of the best big brothers! His sister is learning to walk (can only do a few steps before falling down). He took her by the hands and walked in front of her slowly so she could walk around. There he was, my sweet 2 year old, walking backward to support his little sister.
