Ugh!!! Why do I feel so guilty!!!???

Ask:
I work per diem or on call at the nursing home. Well yesterday, when I was working they were making up the schedule for the next few weeks and I pickied up lots of open shifts, including this Friday 2:30-10:30. Well, last night when I got into bed, I remembered that I had promised my dd more than a month ago that I would drive her to where we used to live on Friday evening so she could spend the weekend with a friend. So I called this morning to the nursing home to see if I could get out of work that day. She let me off even though you are supposed to find your own sub. Now I feel terribley guilty!!! I keep telling myself I shouldn't. Heck, I have been working tons for them. I come in at the last minute if I possibley can and I work anywhere in the place on any shift. I have even worked 5 of the last 6 days!!! Why do I feel so guilty? Sometimes having a concious really sucks!! I never could have forgiven myself, though, if I let my dd down!
Answer:

If she didn't give you a hard time about it I wouldn't worry! I'm sure they are happy that you come in whenever they want!
Answer:

Sometimes you have to put your family first. I know when I worked it was very hard for me to do anything for my family cause I always put my job first. Well when I learned my family needed me more than anything else I told my employer that I am a mom first then everything else takes its place in line I still did everything I could to be there for my job but I deffinately started doing for my family more. Dont beat yourself up they can make due without you and your daughter will be very happy that you are doing this for her.
Answer:

I think guilt of every kind is just in womens genes! Try not to worry I am sure they appreciate more what you do than changing a shift ONE time.
Answer:

You did the right thing though! Just think how guilty you would have felt if you let your DD down instead. You put her first and IMO that is the right thing to do. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Answer:

You did the right thing! So many moms put their jobs first over their families. Your DD will remember this special thing you did for her (and when she is a mother...she will do the same type of things for her children)
Answer:

You feel guilty because you obviously have a strong work ethic! BUT...they do notice that you work when you can and are always there for them when possible. Try not to beat yourself up too much!
Answer:

I think that the reason that she let you out of it so easy is that she values you as an employee and knows that you wouldnt do it if you didnt have to. I wouldnt feel guilty and I wouldnt worry about it, you seem to be a good employee and seems like they know it.
Answer:

I have done the same thing and felt the same way you do.... it's ok you made the right choice. The switch was made without issue so let it go.
