Ask:
My 19 month old is in the running off stage. All she wants to do is run. My oldest went through this but was not nearly as bad. We are going to an outdoor wedding reception next week and I'm not looking forward to chasing her for several hours. I bought a harness/leash from One Step Ahead.
Does anyone have any experience using a leash and how did it work for you?
Answer:
I bought one for my oldest and never really used it. We used to get "looks" from people and DH couldn't stand that. We still have it and will probably use it with oyoungest dd when she starts walking because she seems to be on the go a lot.
Anyway...when we did you it, it worked great!!
Answer:
I got one that looks like a teddy bear backpack and you hold the tail. I still use it occasionally for my 4 yr old since he is not a good listener lately!! Actually usually threatening him with it works. I don't care what people think about it. I would rather they disapprove than loose my kid in a crowd!

Do you remember where you purchased the teddy bear backpack? That sounds cool.
Thanks for your input
Answer:
I also have one of those teddy bear ones, mine looks like a monkey and when my dd ( who is two ) wears it we get so many comments about how cute it is, but when I used the one that just goes on her hand or is a harness type people would give me dirty looks and ugly comments. I guess if it is cute then it is okay. ( I got my monkey one at Walmart for $10 ) I love the thing and have pretty much given up on the stroller, we use it everywhere, the zoo, the mall, even Disney World. I think that you should use it a couple times before the wedding so that she is used to it. Also you should bring things to the reception for her to do, being entertained will be better than her looking for herself something to do. Good luck and hope you have a good time.

I got it at Target
Answer:
I'm purchasing the monkey harness from Walmart (site to store option). How appropriate since I often call her my little monkey. If she isn't running she is climbing.
Thanks again for all your help!!
Answer:
I used one on all 3 of my kids. I was more concerned with their saftey than the looks I got. One woman stopped to tell me how aful she thought it was... I invited her to carry him for the duration of the fair (3 more days) he was "only 48lbs" at the time.... she politely declined and went along her way.
Answer:
I used them, but I didn't have much of a choice. DH was rarely with me when I took the kids anywhere and at the time I had 3 under 3 so if they decided to run different directions what could I do? Yes, people look at you funny, but the children's safety comes first. Those leashes were wonderful!
Answer:
My husband turned his nose up at the idea and said she'd throw a tantrum, etc. I figure that I will let her throw a tantrum and she will learn she isn't getting out of it.
