Good luck! I have attempted to try this system but dh insists he spends cash faster than writing checks. In the meantime, he's writing checks for $2-$5 . Checks cost money! I think that would be a good way to stay on budget but for dh, he would think its a constant reminder of what we don't have. Hope it works for you!

Yeah hope it works too, We do a cash envelope for eating out/ activity expences. It is amazng how fast $40 can go.
What I try to do is keep a running total in my head adding up things as they go in the cart when my in the head total reaches $50 I stop. I have been trying this last month to do this everytime I shop.
