1 German chocolate cake mix
1 (5 3/4oz)evaporated milk
1 (14oz)kraft caramels
3/4 c melted butter
1 (6oz)chocolate chips
1-2 c pecan or walnuts
Mix together cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk. Press 1/2 of mix into a 9 x 13-in. greased pan.
Bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
Sprinkle on pecans.
Melt together caramels and rest of milk, pour over pecans.
Sprinkle on chocolate chips.
Pour on remaining cake mix. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
Refrigerate for 3 hours.

I have a very similar recipe that instead of the pecans, caramels, and milk in the middle you spread a can of coconut pecan icing (what you traditionally put on a German chocolate cake), then top w/ chocolate chips and the rest of the cake. I don't like coconut, but this sure is good! I may have to try yours now, too!
