SO I am trying different things. One of the main things I am doing is trying to cook everything I can from Scratch. I made so bread yesterday for supper and family ate 2 loaves. It was my first time I was extremely nervous about wasting flour and yeast and such. But they turned out beautifull. And it was supper fast. I found a great recipe online call 60 minute rolls and it was so easy. So made some more bread this morning.
Mostly I am trying to cut our grocery budget and got some tips on how for you all.
Thanks
Lisa

One thing I have started doing is making my own cream soups. I'm at work, so I can't give you my recipe, but I bet you can find one online somewhere. You use powdered milk, cornstarch, some tyme, pepper and then boullion. I find that it tastes sooo much better than the canned stuff, and is alot better for you!! Congrats on the bread!! I have a bread maker, and I need to use it more. I found sleeves of yeast at Wal-Mart on clearance for $.50 each. I also make my own chocolate syrup for milk, ice cream, etc. I use Tawra Kellam's recipe. It also tastes so much better than store bought. I usually only make 1/2 of the recipe, b/c I can't stand to use 2 Cups of sugar at a time (I'm too cheap!!) Make your own chicken broth, then freeze it. I freeze it in 2C quantites= 1 can. I'd like to have your roll recipe. If I think of anything else, I'll post again later.

Sorry rpmom this has taken me so long to post.
60 minute Rolls
1 c milk
1 c water
1/4 c butter
4 -5 cups all purpose flour
3 T sugar
1 tsp salt
2 pkgs active dry yeast
Comcine milk, water and butter ina small sauce pan. Heat over a low heat until liquids are very warm to the touch, about 120 degrees, butter does not need to melt completely, In mixer bowl, place 3 c of the flour along with the remaining dry ingredients. Mix on low speed until well blended. Gradually add the warm milk mixture. Mix until well blended.
Gradually begin adding the remaining 1 to 2 cups of flour, 1/2 c at a time until the dough in firm, clings to the hook and cleans the sides of the bowl. Turn out onto counter top and knead a few times.
Place in a large greased bowl and allow to rise in a warm place for 20 minutes. Turn our and divide into rolls or loaves, whichever you choose. Place bread in a warm place and all to rise another 20 to 30 minutes. Bake at 425 for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter while still warm to produce a nice soft crust.
I use my kitchen -aid mixer with the dough hook. It is really quick and easy. Good Luck!!

the only way that I have found to save money it to do a realistice buget. for everything.
We use the credit card only for Walmart ( paper products, diapers, wipes , bath stuff) and gas. Everything else is cash. If we don't have the cash we don't need it.
this is my budget
my dh and I get $50 to spend on what ever we want each month. We always start the month with 50. at the end of the month if he has 20 left over he gets 30 at the beginning of the next month. I go to curves so that comes out of my 50.
$350 is for groceries. we shop ever 2 weeks and I make a list if I don't we spend a lot more. we are a family of 3 and my dh comes home for lunch.
$300 for gas and that is on the high side so it lets us do extra driving.
then there are the other thigns like co pay for doc apts and that come out of savings.
we pay what we would like to, to help get the debt down. we have a plained 800 a month for that. and the rest that we don't use to right into saveing that is why I can pull some out here and there for co -pays and things like that.
then best thing to do is write it all down on paper and deduct all your bills from it to see what is left and then go budget that way. I was suprised to see what we were blowing money on.
