Money saving tip

Ask:
Never take your husband grocery shopping with you!!! We just went shopping and I had a realitively small list... Well, we ended up with $12 in crab legs (ICK!), energy drinks, pop tarts, and cookies
Answer:

I know what you mean, dh and kids always add extra to the bill when they are with me!
Answer:

Whats Worse Never take your Husband to Costco!!!
Answer:

Oh dear! I think my dh could teach a class entitled, "Grocery Shopping for Husbands". He's awesome at it. Well, he wasn't always this way, but boy, he is right on board now. We sit down and write out the grocery list together, he checks the HyVee ads for what is on sale, and looks for coupons online. In the grocery store, he checks every item, and says things like, "This is $X.XX at Walmart - we should get it there" and "This items is 42 cents cheaper than the name brand. Let's get the store brand." He is great at it!

Hey, that's a way we could make more money. I could ship dh around the country teaching other husbands. . . Nah, I'd miss him way too much!
Answer:

I hate taking my husband shopping with me. I would rather take the kids. He will just throw cookies, chips, etc. into the cart. Than when we check out he about has a heart attack because the bill is so high. Well DUH! If he hadnt put $30 worth of crap in the cart, than the bill would have been decent. I swear he things the food is free sometimes. Even if I tell him no, he has to say something. He'll put in two packages of oreos and I will say that they are too much. Well you got them last time, yes but last time they were 2 for $5, now they are $3.29 a piece!!!
Answer:

My husband is pretty good when it comes to grocery shopping. However sometimes I fall off the wagon & buy something that we don't need but I do not do that very often, just when I have a moment of weakness. Now DH did come home from Wal-Mart with a new DVD player & stereo w/o talking to me about it. Needless to say I was not very happy!
Answer:

I know how you feel. My dh is the same way. But, I have my moments as well. But it's usually on things that I just forgot to put on the list. Like today, I knew we were out of tinfoil, but forgot to write it down. But dh will say, oh...I need this or we have to have that. I try to do the grocery shopping on my own. I know that once I sent him to the store to get a frozen pizza, and he comes home with $80.00 worth of groceries we didn't need.
Answer:

My husband is the king of junk food and the bargin bin! It is a lot cheaper shopping with my daughter - she listens when I say, "No"!
Answer:

I agree. Whenever I take anyone with me, the total bill goes way up. I heard once that for every 2 min you spend in the grocery store you will buy an extra item. Now my goal is to get in and out as fast as I can, preferably with no hubby and no kids with me - though that's not always possible.
Answer:

My husband came to this conclusion on his own! We always go in with a list, but he is a pro at sneaking things in here and there. I told him that I really wanted us to get down to $60 a week and he said that I should definitely leave him at home since he is the weak link at the store. Today I was keeping the tally of what was on my list and was at $50 at the end...so I brought him home some Ben and Jerry's Phish food for since it was on sale and he will hopefully see that you can still get treats here and there that aren't on the list. And I was still under my $60 goal : )
