Ask:
insect repellant do you use on your children? We have terrible mosquitos around here and I am going to have to become vigilant about protecting my kids.
Answer:
We also have a terrible mosquito problem where we live. Last year we spent far too much time indoors because I was reluctant to put insectide on a 4-yr old.
When we did go outside we used AVON Skin-So-Soft Expedition. We also used the version that is combined with a sunscreen. My husband and I used OFF with Deet - the strongest version they make. Everyone in the family still got bit but I have to assume not as badly as we would have without the product.
Those OFF mosquito repelling lanterns worked pretty well. I couldn't find any other environmental bug repellant that worked as well.
This year I'm setting up our super large tent as a gazebo so we can spend SOME time outdoors and get a break from the critters.
Answer:
The mosquitos are bad this year. They are out even in the day time, usually we wouldnt see them until it was dusk or later. For the kids I use AVON Skin So SoftBug Guard (it also has SPF 30). For me and the husband I use Off Deep Woods. I have also heard if you rub a dryer sheet on your clothing, that it keeps the bugs away too. Dont know if that is true or not. I am going to get some of those mosiquitos lanterns too.
Answer:
We had them really bad here last year and I haven't seen any here as of yet. We even had a few cases of EEE.
I am scared to death and wouldn't let my kids outside.
Anyway I did use AVON Skin-So-Soft Expedition and I just bought some more to use this year.
Answer:
Typically we avoid being outside when mosquitos are most active. Other than that, we use a product with DEET. There is little risk if it is used properly, you wash it off with soap and water when you head inside etc Everybody is different. My little sister almost died from equine ecephalitis when she was 4...so to me, it is worth the risk.
Answer:
We have 2 different products that we use. Avon Skin-So-Soft Bug Off and Off Smooth and Dry that I got as a bzz agent. Both seem to work pretty well for us. I also keep my kids in the house in the mornings and evenings when the little blood suckers are most active.
Answer:
I use Skin So Soft, it works well!
Answer:
We use Deep Woods Off, but only because we need the protection from ticks too. They are bad up here this year. So far if has worked great for the mosquitos too.
