Ask:
What food items do you freeze? Have you froze something and it defrost and is not edible? Just trying to think of more items that I can stock up on when on sale (vegetables, fruit, etc-all for making meals/desserts for a later time). This is a quick list of what I freeze; not counting meats like hamburger or frozen veggies, frozen convenient foods or homemade casseroles.
hot dogs
lunchmeat
cheese-block and shredded
sour cream-I dont think it sets back up right, but it tastes the same
chopped up onions for recipes
homemade soups/leftover roast beef to use to make a soup later
soup stock
leftover chili or sloppy joes for lunches
That is about all I can think of, I am sure I have a few more items in my freezer right now.
Answer:
Lasagna (regular and tex-mex style) and chicken pot pie. I purposely make extra to freeze for later. I'm looking forward to other replies! Beef stew isn't any good after freezing... it gets too thick. We also freeze bread, store-bought or made in the bread machine.
Answer:
I freeze all my soups, stews and sauces...and also meat that I buy in bulk. I haven't had any problems with my stews being too thick or the consistency being off after freezing, probably depends on the ingredients.
