Ask:
It's kind of last minute but we ended up having a whole week off and decided to extend our vacation from MN to SD and continue on to Colorado. (so we don't have time to order the travel guides and get them in the mail)
What would you say are the "must see" things in Colorado?
(we will be going there from MN to CO then on to SD I guess)
Thanks!!
PS- a great spinoff might be, what is a "must see" in the state you live in?
Answer:
Go to Estes Park...and take Trail Ridge Road...it's beautiful!!!
Answer:
I agree with Estes Park. You might also want to check out the Royal Gorge, Garden of the Gods, and the Coors factory (if you are a beer fan ) Denver has a zoo I think.
Answer:
I agree with Estes Park. Denver does have a big zoo, Colorado Springs also has a nice but smaller one. Garden of the Gods. Boulder is a cool town (it's special to dh and I, so maybe I'm biased.) Hmmm...I'll be back if I can think of more. I lived there for 12 years.
Answer:
My husband wants to go to garden of the Gods, we both like Boulder, Estes park (I know I went there but it's been 15 years). I have heard the zoo is great, but I think we are going to be going to a couple of other zoos in SD so I think we might pass on the one in CO (it's pretty $$).
Thanks for all of the ideas!
(I just checked out the colorado.com website, and I will get a free tee shirt!)

How funny, we just did the reverse trip a couple of weeks ago, going from Colorado to Minnesota. Estes Park is great. My SIL lives there and DH graduated from from Estes Park High. Downtown Fort Collins is nice. Thursday nights they have concert under the stars and have different bands play in the Old Town Square. Denver has the "Unsinkable" Molly Brown house. Boulder is nice. Pearl Street is fun to walk and shop. All sorts of street performers. Budweiser is on I-25, just north of Fort Collins. They have free tours and beer tasting. If you are into that sort of thing, Fort Collins also has some local breweries that are really good. Steamboat Springs is beautiful and is a beautiful drive.
I've lived in the northern Colorado/Fort Collins area for about 17 years, and would be happy to give you any more info that you want. Feel free to PM. Just a suggestion, if you plan on going into the mountains, bring some ginger chews or crystalized ginger to help with motion and altitude sickness. I still get car sick riding on all of those winding roads.
