I wanted to say "hi."

Ask:
I'm new here. I'm a SAHM to two great girls. Both are diagnosed with FASD. The oldest is mildly affected. The youngest is not. We just learned they have a biological baby brother that is 4 months old. We have started all the paperwork and training to try and adopt him. He was born cocaine-positive so will probably have a lot problems. We haven't seen him yet. I'm glad to have found this place. I'm a former homeschooling mom and don't feel like I should be posting on my old special needs homeschooling board that I use to frequent, but I really miss the support and advice. I look forward to meeting all of you.
Answer:

Glad to have you here! It's a great bunch of supporting ladies! Welcome and good luck w/your adoption, God Bless You!
Answer:

Welcome! Tell us about your kids! What challenges are you facing and what do you expect to face with your new one? I'm so glad you are giving this baby a home, too. How wonderful you are. Do you stay home w/ them? How old are they?
Answer:

My oldest is almost 12 going on 22. You get the drift. She has moderate issues with Sensory Integration Dysfunction and has an incredibly short fuse. When she was little, we thought she might have early on-set bipolar, but she doesn't. She is the most intense kid that I have ever met. She has some of the facial features of Fetal Alcohol, but luckily doesn't have the cognitive impairment.

My youngest has a long laundry list of dx, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Static Encephalopathy, PDD-NOS, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. She struggles mightily in school, but for the most part has a good attitude and tries hard.

As for the baby, we have no idea. Cocaine exposure can have so many outcomes. I think the girls are probably cocaine exposed also. The youngest has an area of brain damage in her left temporal lobe that was probably caused by cocaine. It's kind of like a stroke victim.

I am at home.
