Ask:
I have a HARD time planting annuals every year, because I kind of feel as if I am throwing money away since they only last the summer. However ~ I still buy them because I LOVE the gratification of "instant" color (since most are in bloom).
This year I spent $40 on Petunias and got 96 plants (they were $18 for a 48 plant flat + tax). I actually thought this was pretty good.
How much do you spend for annuals each year?
Answer:
Usually $40-60 on annuals and $20-40 on perrenials. However, we are currently in a house with NO flowers and no place to put any, so until I change all the landscaping I'm not spending any.
Answer:
I spend about $50-80, sometimes less depending on how much money I get for my birthday each year. My birthday is in early May and everyone knows I love flowers and gardening. So I get gift cards or flowers as gifts. Also, my birthday is right next to Mothers Day, so I tell my family I just want to be able to go buy all the flowers I want and have that as my gifts. It's my one main thing that I love to do and relieves all my stress.
Answer:
With annuals potting soil and mulch we spent about $75.00. I try to make it part of the budget.
I decided I spent nothing after being at the playground last Friday. One mom was stating that she had just spent another $200.00 now I am not sure if that was just annuals but wooo thats a lot of money to me anyway.
Answer:
About $40 a year. This year I am trying annual Phlox. My neighbor planted it last year and it came back even stronger this year...it is labeled annual but often reseeds itself. I figure next year I'll have a crazy moving baby so this might help save some time.

Answer:
I try not to buy to many annuals. I have a couple baskets on my porch that need to be filled, but that's just about $20. We are still working on adding plants to the yard so I buy a couple new plants every month during the summer. But I always buy plants that come back each year.
Answer:
I spent $150, I have hanging baskets everywhere though so those suck up alot of the budget. Then the darn rabbits ate all my petunias.
My stepmom spends over $1000 she is crazy!
Answer:
To save money on hanging baskets you can usually buy the empty plastic baskets for 99 cents at Walmart. Then you can buy a cheap bag of soil and a flat of flowers and make lots of baskets for very little money.

Answer:
I have tried before and they never look right!
Answer:
Let's see...
Basil plants $21 (7 plants at $3/ea.)
Patio planter $24
Hydrangea $20
Hibiscus tree $13
other assorted annuals $16
I guess that's over $100, but I really think I got a lot for my money and will TOTALLY enjoy them. The hibiscus will move indoors after the season is over and I'm hoping the hydrangea will last more than one season. Plus, I cook with basil so that doesn't count, right?! I can't imagine spending over $1,000! Yikes!
