Ask:
Our house was built in 1935 and they used actual sheet rock......slabs of rock....for the walls and ceilings. It is incredibly strong and durable, as you would expect rock to be, but it poses a problem for us in hanging things. If we try to drill in it, it flakes chips off and ruins the pain. Does anyone else have an older home with these types of walls and know how to hang things without ruining the rock?
Answer:
We had the same thing in our last house, at least on the main floor. We ended up using screws and a drill - it did chip a little bit but not too much - of course once a picture was in the wall we NEVER moved it. We also tried double sided sticky poster tape (for boys' rooms) and that stuff didn't work at all.
