I noticed a lot of you ladies have mentioned that school is out or just about to be let out in your area....well, my girls last day school is not until the 19th (actually oldest dd is graduating on the 16th) but anyway, I was wondering, do you start school earlier in the summer than we do, (we will be going back to school on Aug 29th, I think) or maybe have less vacations?

We finish school on June 7th. They start school the day after labor day.

My dd's last day was on May 24. She goes back to school on August 9. I'm in the south and we've always gotten out at the end of May and gone back sometime in August, even when I was a kid.

We're out tomorrow...we usually go back the Wed or Thur before Labor Day. I think it can vary quite a bit, state to state.

My children's last day was May 23rd and they return to school August 2nd. As for vacations, we get a week for fall break, a week or so for Christmas break, a week for spring break and then the other little holidays throughout the year.

We're out on June 8th (Friday) and go back the Day after Labor day...which is a first for us, usually we start the last week of August!

the kids last day was May 25, and they start the week before Labor Day. We didn't have any snow days to make up for this year. Also, there was a teachers strike 3 years ago and since then, the elementary schools in the district only get a 3 day weekend for "spring break".

we have a really long summer this year, but we will have less vacations during the year.
we are from the south also but this year they are following the new Texas guidelines and starting later. It will be nice this year, I am sure that we will get out around the same time next year...
