Ask:
My little "chunky-monkey" has the thickest, widest feet ever! They are wide, but they are also so thick on the top. We are having the hardest time finding a good sandal to fit him. We looked at every store in our local mall yesterday w/ no luck. I have already looked at StrideRite.com & didn't find what I was looking for.
I am looking for a a brown leather sandal & I would also like some soft sandals just for him to play in. Thanks in advance for your help & suggestions!!
Answer:
I was going to suggest StrideRite. When my oldest was a baby he had super wide feet. Did you already try Sears. Payless also carries infant shoes in wides.
Answer:
striderite, payless, sears.....
Answer:
stride rite is the best for wide feet. How about going bare this summer? How old is he? Robeez are flexible that might work if you didn't like the sr.
Answer:
My DS wears a XWide, I can only find them at Stride Rite, his sandals are ugly but they fit him.
Answer:
ditto on what everyone else said. We bought DS sandles at payless last year in wide.
Answer:
You would be better off going into Stride Rite's stores than online. I have the same issues, and they have always come through for my two kids.
Also, consider the crocs. My kids are in love with them and they are wide.

Same problem here. Ds is an xw and the only place I can find shoes for him is at Stride Rite. I did buy a pair of sandals at Walmart at the end of last year for about $3 and they do fit him. They are wides, are made by Dr Scholls & luckily still fit him. Yeah, DS is gellin!! Besides the traditional fisherman sandal from Stride Rite (save them for dressier times) they are all he wears. They are the velcro over the top kind. You will find that Velcro is your friend here! I was searching for a cheap pair of shoes for him to wear when we go swimming and I actually found a pair of shower shoes at Freds (kwim, like the adidas with the big strap across the top?) that have an elastic strap at the heel and a velcro strap across the top. My other thought was Crocs. They seem to be cut a little wider and at least they are vented. My only porblem is is that I refuse to pay $15 for a pair of plastic shoes!!
Good Luck. Maybe there is a Stride Rite oultelt close by. They seem to be cropping up everywhere!
Answer:
I get my boys shoes at Payless. Love the B1G1 sales!
Answer:
I got a postcard today that StrideRite is starting a big sale on June 7. They have a lot more in store than online. I love the shoes there. My DD has a wide foot and wore Robeez until she was too big for them and is now in Stride Rites.
Once you know what size he wears in Stride Rite, it is possible to find them cheaper. I have bought them at Marshalls and bought ahead some at Dillards the other day for $10 a pair. They mark their stuff down a lot at the end of season so I will buy up sandals, etc at the end of season.
Most of their stuff is very classic - and doesn't go out of style.
If you don't have Dillards - try Macy's or any other mid-priced department store.
