Unconfirmed Paypal Status

Ask:
Hey ladies! I just made my first couple of sales on eBay and it shows unconfirmed under status. This is apparently a result of an unconfirmed PayPal account. There's an option to accept, but I have to upgrade my PayPal account to do that.

If I wait, will it clear by itself, do I have to upgrade or can I have the buyer verify the account?

TIA.

Answer:

This is the result of your buyer trying to pay with a credit card. If you accept, you automatically upgrade your account. Unless you are a big seller or plan to be a big seller on paypal, I wouldn't upgrade. You need to add to your auctions that you do not take paypal payments via credit card. Only paypal balances or e-checks. Explain to your buyer that you do not accept credit card payments and offer them the opportunity to bow out if that is the only way they can pay.
Answer:

PayPal has changed it now that accepting a credit card payment will NOT automatically upgrade your account. However, if you plan on doing a decent amount of selling, I've found that most payments do come through credit cards.

"Personal accounts can receive a limited number of credit or debit card funded payments per year and are assessed a transaction fee. To view your Personal account limit, log in to your account and click the View Limits link."
