Another post just reminded me that Freecycle is a great way to help the decluttering process:
I have freecycled several things this year. My experience has been that there are always people who want my stuff (hooray). Working out a pick up time has sometimes been tricky,(have had some people try to make it 2-3 times before actually taking the stuff away). But they are always so happy to have the things I no longer need- that makes me very happy.
How about the rest of you- what have been your freecycling experiences?
Answer:
I have had good experiences with Freecycle too. It's amazing the things people want and how excited they are to have it. I get a lot of boxes in for my Tastefully Simple business and I always post them of Freecycle. Everytime I am flooded with responses and when someone comes to pick them up they are so happy and thankful. Last week I cleaned out my closet. I have so many clothes I don't wear because I don't like them or they don't fit quite right. Also I'm pg so I won't be wearing any of them for a long time. So I have 2 garbage bags of clothes that I posted. Again, I got a ton of responses. At the same time I posted a WANTED for stock pots. Well a lady responded that she needs the clothes for her mom who is in a nursing home and gained some weight so she wants my clothes. She also has some stock pots that she doesn't use. So we're making the trade today. I'm so excited. It turned into a great deal for both of us.

I to have had great experiences on freecycle.org. I have given away so many things! I actually have kept some e-mails for specifics for future reference. It's great to de-clutter and someone else can use your unwanted things!

My first experience with freecycle, I encountered a big nut. I was giving away a scanner and this guy kept wanting to meet for coffee for the exchange. It was really weird because he kept insisting that we get together for the trade. Leave it to me to attract the weirdos.
Since then though, I have had some really great experiences. I am a sheets and blanket junkie. I finally went through our linen closet and I had DOZENS of sheet sets in a size that we no longer even had a bed for. So I put them all on Freecycle (individually) and people went looney. It makes me feel great knowing that someone is getting use and enjoyment out of something I had instead of just letting it gather dust in my closet.

I remember that story! Eek- whatever happened to that guy?

I love freecycle, I just put things out on my porch, i would never open the door, I remember the nut story! But it's great b/c within 20 mins of posting something i've got dozens of takers! I've only received one thing on though but I have made a great mommy friend through it! She is the one who told me about craigslist.org which is another great site! I have sold so much stuff on there this year!
