Saving Through a Breakup

Ask:
So, my so dumped me on the weekend... apparently does not want to be married or have a family (luckily we dont have kids, just a kitty that will have joint custody lol).

so, as we were supposed to get married in august i have many things that i dont know what to do with now:

$1000 wedding dress, brand new, never been worn, size 26...still at the bridal shop
his wedding band
my wedding band
4 silk flower bouquets
4 handmade silk flower bouteniers
2 handmade silk flower coursages
1 silk flower kissing ball
10 feet of ornate lace for veil
2 brand new guestbooks
2 champagnge toasting flutes
tons of scrapbook paper for save the dates and invitations
about 30 spools of satin and organza ribbon
glue gun with glue
spools and spools of double sided tape
brand new size 11 white ballet flats with satin ribbon
beaded wire heart haped containers
20 glass picture frames (for centerpieces)
and 35 packs of 3 vanilla candles in metal tins for favours.

there is probably more, but i forget lol

i dont know what to do with all of this stuff. i mean its thousands of dollars worth of crap that i'm never going to use. my mom is appaled that i would even think of selling my dress and rings, but i am never going to wear them so why not. anyhow, i've never sold anything on ebay, and dont know what to do, but if anyone has any tips for that or any other ways to make some moola out of this, any ideas would be great. thanks!
Answer:

Talk to the places where you purchased the items and see if there is anything they can do. Put an add in the local paper even, I've seen wedding dresses for sale before. Definitely consider ebay or a consignment shop even.

It makes perfect sense to me to sell everything. I wouldn't want to hold on to it either. Sorry this happened to you but its better that you found out now rather than later. !
Answer:

I am so sorry this happened. I agree, it's better to sell everything and get as much as you can for it. Keeping it around will only reinforce the pain. This happened to me about 13 yrs ago now and it was one of the hardest things I've ever walked through. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
Answer:

I'm sorry this happened. I would try to return everything if you have the reciept. If you go to the bridal store, ask to speak with a manager, as you can usually get farther with them and they are more likely able to let you return it.

If you can't return things, I would consider ebay or local paper listings for the items too. There is no point in keeping the items, as you will get rid of them eventually. You won't want to ever use them and they will just take up space and get thrown away eventually. You may as well sell them and make some of you money back.
Answer:

I am also very sorry this happened to you. I would suggest taking things back to places to see if they will take back too. If they don't, I would put an ad in the paper or even have a garage sale and headline it with "Wedding Supplies" or something. It's worth a shot. Hope it all works out for you.
