Ask:
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried the Grocerygame.com and had any luck. I am in desperation to find something that works to save me some $$ on my grocery bill. We have a household of seven people - My husband and I and our 5 children (9,8,5,4,2). Of those 5 children 4 are boys and one girl. Our grocery bill averages around $800.00 a month and I feel like I have tried everything to get it down with not much luck. Any great ideas for me????
Thanks
Kim

Some things to consider... Grocery Game relies heavily on coupons & stores that double coupons. I wanted to try it, but it wouldn't be worthwhile in my area. Nobody doubles coupons, and my newspaper only has one little coupon insert that is about half order forms for various junk.

I do the grocery game and love it! I save tons of money. They have a 4 week trial for $1.00. It is worth the $1 just to try and get on their message boards and you will be amazed and everyones help and tips and suggestions! You DO have to clip coupons, but you DO NOT have to have a store that doubles them. What you do is buy multiple Sunday papers and clip the coupons that way or have family members or friends get you theirs. The whole idea of TGG is to learn to stockpile at rock bottome prices.
The program tells you what to buy with what coupon and how many to get for the lowest and best price! IT prints it all out for you. All you have to do is have the coupon.
Trust me.....try it for 4 weeks, get all the info you can off of the boards and go from there. You will know if it will work for you or not after 4 weeks.

I have been a member for over a year now. It's great.
I have learned how to do it myself but hey time is money and I hate having to track what coupons I have an try to match that up with the store flyers. Yuck, yuck.
So for me it's well worth the $2 a week for the service. i save WAY more than $2 by playing the "game"
You can try 4 weeks for $1 and cancel if you don't like it.
I get two lists. One store doubles coupons and one does not. I get free items from both stores all the time and other items for pennies on the dollar.
At Albertsons, my non doubling store, I walked out with 20 packages of 4 count Scott TP for free last week! When I saw the good deal, I bought extra coupons on eBay and scored big time. That alone is well worth it for the year.
It's also well worth the effort to go to the gas station on Sunday's and buy a larger newspaper if your local paper doesn't have the greatest coupons in it. When I lived in downstate IL I bought the St. Louis newspaper every Sunday at the gas station as St. Louis post had much better coupons than my local State Journal register.
However, there are also many out their that just don't see value in the service and would rather do it themself. Me I would rather spend 5 minutes pulling coupons and heading out the door with my list ready to shop.
If the service is available in your area, it's only a $1 for 4 weeks. Also start saving coupons now and read all over the message boards before you sign up. You can read and post in the message boards without being a member. A lot of people with say "I bought Mush / Mushy tomato sauce last week for .05 a can" Mush/ Mushy stands for the brand name. Since it's a open board you wouldn't want to get in "trouble" by disclosing the "deals" to non paying members. You can often figure it out thou.... Mushy fish crackers = Goldfish cracker snack things
One of the other biggest detracting people find is that it's for a lot of processed food. In our household we don't each frozen meals, pizzas, ice cream, chips, boxed dinners, etc and I still find it well worth it. We eat a lot of whole foods and fresh foods, but have saved so much on cleaning, hair, tooth products that that alone is well worth it. I get good deals on produce, meats, HBA, canned veggies/ beans, tomato sauce, olive oil, etc that it works for my house.
I'm happy with the service and recommend that you at least check out the message boards over there and if you take the plunge and try it for 4 weeks it's only a dollar. nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Good luck

I must have done it wrong or something because everytime I print out the list it doesn't match up with what's on sale at my store! I canceled after the trial. Now I just do my best at clipping the coupons.
