Hey there. I am having the hardest time trying to get pregnant. Which is unusual for me, I got prego with my other 3 children just by thinking about it! I was having periods that would last 3 out of 5 weeks. (on BC pills) Doctor recommended Depro, (I unfortunatly took his advice that it was fine, harmless and he recommended it) If I had know about all of the side effects, I never would have done it. Anyway, after 1 shot, (I refused any more) and 8 1/2 months I finally got my first period. And have had one every other week for 1 1/2 months now! And they just keep getting heavier and heavier.
I am sure some of the problem for not getting pregnant is that I am always on, but I don't seem to be ovulating. ususally you can tell when its your more fertil time of the month, by discharge etc. I am not having that. Just period after period. How frustrating!

It took us 2 years after me being on depo to get pregnant, but I was on it for longer than you were. What side effects did you hear about?

I only had 2 depo shots and it took me 7 months to get my period back, then another nine months after that to get pregnant!

I had just the opposite experience of most of you. When I was on depo (which was about 2 years) I got pregnant 11 days after I got off the shot. They told me I couldn't get pregnant for at least 6 months & that i probably wouldn't get my period for 6 months. I started having fainting spells, etc & got checked out & found out i was pregnant. Boy was I surprised. i was 2.5 months along when I found out. But, I was happy that I was having a baby & that's all that mattered....

I am a little relived to know that I am not the only person that had problems with the shot. I was on it for almost one year and instead of having NO period, I was on my ALL the time. In a months time, I was bleeding all but maybe two days. That was lots of fun! Everytime I went in to get a shot, they kept telling me, this shot will get everything in order, blah blah. I finally got off it and went back on the pill. I also got FAT when I was on the shot too. They didnt tell me that was a possiblity. I was told that it takes about one year for the shot to get completely out of your system, but I read here that is not always the truth. I guess the shot works great for some people and good for them.

I got the shot one time and took 18 months to get pernant after it was supposed to "out of my system" and due for another shot.
