Ask:
I recently decided to stop making special trips into town (a 7 mile drive) to run errnads or shop - doing it only when I am on my way to or from work. There are several routes I can take that enable me to make many stops along my 45 minute commute. Every day I worked this week I had to pick up my grandson as soon as I got off so I wasn't able to stop on the way home to do my food shopping. I really needed to get a few things that were on sale before the sale ended so I made my list and organized my coupons so that I could make a quick trip into the store on my way to work.
I left 30 minutes early for work - it gave me about 20 minutes to "power shop." I rushed through the store, got everything on my list and checked out. I was proud of my savings... $85 worth of food that I paid $37 for thanks to my bonus card and coupons - everything I bought was on sale. WHat I was most proud of though was getting ONLY what was on my list. I didn't have time to shop around so I saved more than if I would have if I had the time to stop after work!
I've decided to make this a part of my routine, I'm interested to see how it will affect my grocery spending.
Answer:
That is really great. You are saving money on the gas, on your time, and on food because the faster you are in and out, the less likely you will stray from you list. Great work!
Answer:
I am so proud of you. That is awesome!
Answer:
That is great!
Answer:
Way to go! I know it seems as if it should be harder to shop with such limited time, but truthfully, it is easier (on your wallet AND your peace of mind). When you know the store lay out and you have a list- if you are on a time crunch you don't have time to think about all of the other things that you are "passing up" because you are rushing just to get what you MUST have.
Answer:
Do you have a refrigerator at work? I'm assuming you do. I think it's a great idea to go in the morning. A LOT less people shop at that time, so you save so much energy and stress by going then. Good thinkin'!
Answer:
Yes there is a refrigerator at work. I am a nurse for medically fragile/special needs children - my patients live at home with their families.
