Ask:
In church this morning our priest gave a simple living homily. His challenge was for us to consider having what we want vs. wanting what we have.
That point really hit home with me: Do I want all the things I have? NO!!!! That answer came to me in less than one second. Even with all the purging I've done I still have many things I don't want.
There are many things I *think* I want- or at least would like to have. But there are many more things I already own that I do not want.
You can't find much happiness being surrounded by and caring for things you really don't even want. So either love it or lose it.
Looking at it that way, I can see how I could be content with way less than I currently own.
And that is my deep thinking post for Sunday
Answer:
I totally agree with this. I think happiness comes from being content with the status quo; whether it's being happy with what you have, or being satisfied with who you are. It's about acceptance (of both yourself and others), contentment, and finding joy in everyday moments. Realizing that happiness is a state of mind rather than something to pursue or achieve is key. Amen!
