My oldest is being tested today.. I haven't made it out as a big deal to her, but as a mom I hope she does well. In Michigan we do Gazell testing.. There are no wrong anwsers.. But there is a placement difference.. Standard Kindergarten or Develpoment/Rediness.
Anyone else out there freak out about K-testing.. What do they do in your state..
I'm not worried about her starting K, she's had 2 yrs of preschool and will do fine.. But to be lead away from mom, tested on what you know.. and speaking up when asked a question... uggghhhh. I will post after the test.. Thanks for your support.
Answer:
My dd had hers last week. I met w/the school nurse and guidance counselor during her testing-it was about 20 minutes long. She did great as she's been in preschool since age 1 1/2 and really learned alot there. Here in PA they do it to prepare their curriculum. She was asked her name, to write her name, to count (she did to 28), recognizing numbers, capital/lowercase letters, shapes. She can spell probably about 100 words, she has like 5 notebooks because she is always asking how to spell words everywhere, it's really great.
So I didn't stress over it at all!!
Answer:
Here they do the testing at age 3 so if there are problems they can catch it early. It really is no big deal.
