I was leaving to take home a little boy that spent the night with our boys last night when we received a call from his dad. The dad and the six other kids were in a car accident. He asked if we could keep the little boy until something else was worked out.
One of the little girls (4 yo) will have surgery on her nose tonight. One little boy (5 yo) is believed to have every bone in his face broken. Another girl (7 yo) is complaining of neck pain. The oldest boy (12 yo) has a bad laceration on his leg. Another boy and girl were not hurt and the father says he is not hurt, but he is the type to hide it until the kids are all tended to. So, I would not be surprised if something shows up later.
I just talked to the mom on the phone and she is paniced. She isn't sure what the next 24 hours will hold for them and how they will get everyone taken care of. Of course, she's just paniced. This is a family that attends karate with our family. All the kids are friends with our kids. The dad is an assistant instructor.
Please say a little prayer for them. I know they would sure appreciate it.

Thank you all. We haven't heard anything new yet. They are all one family - same mom and dad, no twins! We didn't tell him until we knew how everyone was, and he doesn't know that his brother may have such facial trauma. His mother told him on the phone and just said his brother had a broken nose. The boy staying with us is 11 and is handling it very well.
I just can' imagine how bad this accident was because the dad drives a 15 passenger van wth all the kids in carseats. He's a stickler for car seats. He even keeps them in after the state law requires. I just can't imagine. My heart is just aching for them tonight.
