DH picky eater advice

Ask:
As much as I love my DH he drives me crazy. He doesn't eat anything green unless it's luttuce or cucumbers, no butter, no pepper, no cheese, no mayo, no peas or beans, no grits, no pork, and the list goes on. I want desperately to cook more than the same old stuff all the time. Any ideas onhow to compromise without cooking 2 seperate meals each sitting?
Answer:

My dh is extremely picky also....I have just started making foods despite him not always liking the ingredients but we have 3 children so he is willing to try it so they see him at least try it, otherwise my oldest son will say, "why do I have to try it if dad doesnt" It is tough his mom didnt really cook a wide variety of food when he was growing up. I on the other hand love to try new foods. It sure makes cooking a little more difficult some days. Good Luck!
Answer:

Why don't you tell us some of what he does eat and maybe we can come up with some recipe suggestions so at least you have something new on the table.

My dh has some veggie issues but he will eat some that the family likes. If I make something that is just awful to him he eats what else is on the table or makes himself a sandwich!

This should be easy .. HAHAHA. He eats beef, chicken, hotdogs, ham and every now and then a pork chop. He eats potatoes, and rice. Spaghetti... ummm.... eggs....toast...lettuce, cucumber, corn and sometimes carrots.
I am stuck cooking spaghetti, meatloaf, taco salad, bbq chicken, shake and bake chicken and baked pork chops every week. **snore**

Oh and my mistake I think I said he did NOT eat grits but he does. He doesn't like oatmeal.

It's not good because most of what he likes is starch and him being in the military that's not really all that healthy eating.... TIA

Try this one--it is beef, corn tortillas, chili, and tomato sause and cheese. They all seem to be on his list and as you can see it makes alot and is frugal and fast with leftovers for lunch the next day! You can use JUST hamburger meat!

Tamale casserole

1 lb ground beef--$2.00
1 lb ground turkey--$1.07
small corn tortillas--about 18--$1.17
24 oz can chili--$2.52
26 oz tomato sauce--.86
3 cup cheese--$2.52

total cost of meal--$10.14
8 servings--$1.27
10 servings--$1.01

This is my own recipe and a family favorite. It tastes really good. You can add onions but my family would FREAK OUT if I did lol! You can also add a chili seasoning packet to it if you like.

It makes alot! There is some left for tomorrow and dh took a huge plate for work tomorrow.

It is also easy to make. The hardest part is browning the meat!

Brown both meats and add tomato sauce and chili(and optional ing)and heat to hot. In a 13x9x2 greased pyrex add a layer of 6 tortillas to cover the bottom like you are making lasagna. Add about 1/3 of the meat mixture and smooth over top. Add 1 cup of cheese and repeat with the next layer of tortillas, meat and cheese. Add the final or 3rd layer and end with cheese.

Bake at 350º for about 25 minutes until hot and bubbly.

Answer:

How about Cows in Comforters!

We don't eat pork so this is our own Pigs in blankets!

Get a package of sausage links--usually there are 10-12 to a package
a can of cresent rolls

cheese if you like(we don't do the cheese)

Roll them up and bake them the temprature on the can.

easy! We do a double batch!

Serve with scrambled eggs and hashbrowns or with beans and rice!

Please don't take offense, but our dd who is 3 is picky also. She is told at each meal, if you don't like what we're having, that's fine, you don't have to eat it, you can have a pbj. I'm thinking I'd be telling dh that also.
Answer:

I go through this with my dh too. Mine doesn't eat peppers if there is a tomatoe in the dish, no condoments of any kind, nothing w/ vingar (yet likes chivettas bbq sauce which is all vinegar!!!). Nothing w/ cream sauce, nothing the resembles a cassarole. Would rather not have lunch meat...the list goes on! That leaves red food, mexican or italian or plain (grilled type). And he comes home for lunch everyday, so I deal with it 2 times a day..fun.

I don't have any advice, only just that I can feel your pain. I am a casserole person and can't have them anymore unless I cook separate meals....grrr.

I have gotten to this point on several occasions, but bit my tongue. He will at times eat something, or attempt to even if he doesn't like it to spare my feelings, but usually I tell him "If you don't like it don't eat it. I'll find something else." Usually he will make something else himself to save me the trouble."
