What does your family think of Homeschooling?

Ask:
Grandparents, aunts, uncles... are they supportive? Are they doubtful or even mortified?

My mom seems leery but has really enjoyed doing letter of the week with us, so I think she is more open to the idea now. Funny- she says she could have never homeschooled, but she taught me to read when I was four! My older sister was having trouble reading in school, so my mom read with her a lot at home, and I sat with them all the time. Next thing I knew I was reading. She says I taught myself- but reality check- I learned from listening to her teaching my sister to sound out the words. She was astonished when I pointed that out.

Lots of people around here homeschool, but it's still viewed with a lot of suspicion
Answer:

For the most part my family is supportive. I think they imagine this is a phase and that I'm not really going to turn into a "nutcase"!

Who knows?
Answer:

Oh i'm a hippy nutcase who's gonna ruin my kids -this from my dh's family who I might add is from one of the same family members daughter just flunked Kinder. I wish I could tell her haha I can do horrible and my kids will still be smarter than yours!
uh-sorry to turn that into a vent, back on topic
My mother and aunt are supportive and actually very happy about it, they have all sorts of plans on how to "help"
My dad and his mother are leery about me doing it when the kids are older but fine with it now that they are so young. But of course "I couldn't possibly teach them at the high school level so I must stop and come to my senses by then" ugh,

But the only people who matter to me are supportive, the rest can shove it.....
Answer:

Well most of my family is a little leery about it. But they are supportive, they dont really sy anything.
