Ask:
i use dish soap. i just put a tad bit on and rub it in and let it sit for a little while and then throw it in the wash. it works great! but don't use to much soap or you will have ahard time getting it out of the washer lol. i speak from experience. and the daen works great for grease stains.
Answer:

I will have to try this..someone else mentioned it. I heard in college that if you are super broke you can just use a couple of tablespoons of dawn for laundry detergent but i never tried it.
Answer:

That's what I use - Dawn dish soap (for stains) but I dilute it with water in a spray bottle. Works like a charm on everything!
Answer:

Does it have to be a name brand like Dawn? Or can I use generic?
Answer:

Dawn is great, a few years ago DS came home from school with head lice... we couldn't use the shampoo on him cause of his age or something like that I forget why, Dawn did the trick though!
Answer:

I make my own "Spray N Wash".

1 gallon water
1 cup (non sudsy) ammonia
1 cup vinegar
1 cup liquid Wisk

Mix all ingredients in bucket and pour into spray bottles. I keep a spray bottle on the washer and store the rest in empty vinegar bottles. This works great. I have not bought spray n wash in years and have saved a lot of money.
Answer:

I will try the dawn, after camping DS has dirt ground into his shorts and shirts. Thanks for the great idea.
