My 9yo DD has been experiencing growing pains in her legs on and off for the last two weeks. They are so painful at times for her that she is just in tears. Last night she was crying went in to kiss her goodnight and I felt so bad.
My question is did anyone else's kids have them so bad they would bring them to tears? My Dd can be somewhat of a drama queen, but I do believe they are hurting that bad. I guess I don't know at what point (if any) I should be more concerned with the discomfort she is in.
I know that this has been posted about before...but at the time didn't really pertain to me so I didn't really retain the information (have to pick and choose what to keep in the big ol' noggin ).

My dd has them frequently (I don't know when she is going to grow though, she is such a shrimp!). We give her advil and it seems to help.

My dd had them really often when she was about 9. The pains have seemed to taper off, even though she's still growing fast. She would literally cry and rub her legs. I would give her ibuprofen and hugs, she'd fall to sleep. These growing pains are very real. I remember having them myself, and reading about them when I was in nursing school. I asked her doctor just to make double sure, and it's just part of growing. My dd is very long and lean, all legs just like me. I can barely keep her in jeans.

I do give her some Ibuprophen and she can at least fall asleep. I know it's normal but I just hate seeing her hurt.

poor thing. tell Aurora that Elena gets them too. usually not that bad. E's neck and shoulders also hurt at times. I will put a heating pad on her bed and when ready to hop in I take it out. I think the heat helps. I also give her a rice sock for her shoulders.
