Ask:
I can not get my 4 month old to take a bottle. I have tried 3 different bottles and nipples. I pump and use breastmilk in the bottle- he just will not take a bottle. With my other 3 boys I did not have such a problem.
He screams and pushes the bottle out- I have even started to BF then switch the bottle when he is almost asleep and he will take it for a suck and them wake up and srcream.
I have been trying once a day for 4 days now and just no luck-
Please I need suggestions
Answer:
I'm sorry! My dd (5 months) won't take one either. Luckily she doesn't have to, but it would be nice to leave and know she can eat without me. Oh well. What brand bottles have you tried already so we don't suggest them?!
Answer:
Advent, the playtex one that has a bend neck and the new Elan bottle.
Answer:
Aw I don't know what to tell you I had the opposite problem.
Answer:
If you have access to a lactation consultant, they should be able to recommend something. I have heard some people have had to skip the bottle because of this problem and move to cups...
Answer:
My dd just started on bottles in the like the last 2 weeks and she is now 9 mo. I would try at different times b/c I too wanted the freedom to leave the house and not have to hurry back in time for a feeding. I was ready to be done nursing as well. (I realized that in the last 3 yrs there has only been one month where I haven't been pregnant or nursing.)
If you don't HAVE to have her on the bottle maybe wait a while and try again. That is what I had to do.

I had the same w/dd. Icalled her my little leech. I tried so many different ones, including the breast shaped one that is $14 (anyone want it?) Nothing worked. I finally just started giving her sippy cup w/her meals. She loves water (water is OK w/meals at 4 mo., but keep using breastmilk at other times until baby is at least 6 mo.) I didn't put the stopper in. Gradually she learned to use it with the stopper. Yay!! At least I don't have to bottle wean. She's one now and still nursed, but the sippy cup is a lifesaver. Good luck!

I'm not sure if it would help or not, but there is my suggestion.
When DS was born he was very small and in the hospital they had me use a nipple shield when nursing to help him latch on better. It is a plastic shield that goes over the breast for sore nipple and such.
I am wondering if using one while you are nursing would help him get used to the plastic of a bottle while still having the flow of nursing.
Mine was from the hospital, but I think you can find them at Target and such. It was made by Medila (however you spell it).
