What did you think of Survivor last night?

Ask:
So, all of you who tuned in, what did you think?

Do you like the twist? Do you think it's going to feed the stereotypes? Do you think it's still all negative or is there a positive undertone to this?

I personally liked it. I didn't see the beginning. I saw the first immunity challenge. I was impressed with how they all wanted to "represent". However, I did see that the game quickly because the game of survivor once the team going to tribal council was determined.

What do you all think?
Answer:

Well I had no problem last night with the episode. My fear has always been what if one team dominates and one team sucks. Then will people be saying "well I knew group x would be better", or "I knew group y wouldn't be able to succeed". The last two years one tribe has dominated over and slowly eliminated the other. So my fear is just that if that happens that it will be blamed on the "race" of those contestants rather than their physical or athletic abilities. The other thing I noticed last night was that some teams had 3 guys/2 girls, and others had 3 girls/2 guys. And some of the groups just look much more physically fit than the others. But I'll still be watching.
Answer:

I only got to see the very end, so I don't really have an opinion yet. Maybe next week I'll actually get to watch the whole thing.
Answer:

I was actually pretty bored by it all. I wonder if they are going to eventually merge into two teams against one another or if it will just be one big merge. I also got tired of the one team constantly saying, "We gotta represent. We need to represent." Ok, we got it. You want to represent. Stop talking about it and go represent. I imagine the show will pick up some once alliances are made and the backstabbing starts.
Answer:

Maybe the whole point of the racial seperation is to prove that "outwit, outlast, outplay" is NOT based on color?? I dunno, it seemed pretty good. I do agree with the poster that mentioned if one certain race "loses"....it may feed sterotypes about that certain race. All in all, I don't think this will INCREASE or DECREASE racial prejudices within society. I didn't watch the last couple seasons of Survivior because it was getting really boring...hopefully this year will be better.
Answer:

I also missed the beginning but thought it was pretty good. The tribes are so small though - they will have to merge pretty soon I imagine. I loved it when the older guy "yanked" the headache out of the younger guy's head and he admitted it worked!
Answer:

I think that it makes it slightly hard to talk about. I stopped by work this morning and chatted about the episode with some ladies there. We all starting talking about which teams are our favorites and which we don't care for. I personally don't like the african-american team. I thought that they just didn't get together as a team as much, and what was with the guy leaving to "take a break" right as he was getting smoke to start a fire? Anyway....one of the other ladies was like "why - cause they are black?" I explained my reasons, but felt very uncomfortable. I know not everyone is like this, but it makes me not want to even discuss it.

I actually like the asian team quite a bit. The older guy is a hoot!
Answer:

I agree about the african american team. I got kinda mad when the 2 african american guys stepped out and decided who went to exile island. I was like WTF! Who the hell do they think they are?

I also like the asian team but I wish they would have chosen more asians that were not american asians, more like cao boi, he is more in tune with his culture.
Answer:

I thought it was pretty good! I really liked the asian team too! The older guy is going to bring some amusement!
