Ask:
My son is 12....and our rule has always been that they can do it until the year they turn 13. However, on his own, he has chosen not to go this year. I am kind of sad. I guess I didn't realize last year would be the end. I had planned on one more costume with him...and now, he is forever going to be Anakin Skywalker from last year as his last costume! LOL
Answer:
My oldest is only 9 and he is really excited about going. My girl friend has 3 kids that are older than mine and they all stopped around 13. I think that's sounds right.
Answer:
i figured 13 was a good time to stop. it irritates me to see 19 year olds or even 15 year olds wearing just a stupid mask nad then reguaklr clothes going around just to get free candy. its not fun for them anymore they just want the free candy. my dd will not go any longer after she hits 13. same with ds. i think when they get to that point we will do a halloween party/sleepover as long as its not on a school night.
Answer:
My dd is 13 this year and I don't think she trick or treated last year. She just hung out with her friends and then went to the town Halloween party where her and her friends won best costume for dressing up like KISS.
Answer:
My son is 11 and he doesn't want to this year but one of his friends is working had to convince him to do it. LOL I think this year, if he does it, will be his last year. He will have made the decision on his own. If he didn't, I'd probably cut it off after the age of 12.
Answer:
as long as kids of any age dress up I don't care how old they are. I remember dressing up when I was 12 and adults telling me I was too old. we ended up just sitting on some street talking and eating what little candy we got. my dh was VERY tall as a kid and stopped when he was 10. he and his friends all went out and people refused to give them candy they thought they were teenagers. I did have a friend who was small and she had younger sibs so she always wore a costume with a mask and went until she graduated from high school.

Answer:
That is a good point. My niece is 5'6" at just turned 11 years old....and sadly enough started to develop at age 9...by now, she is wearing a B cup bra and has curves! Even my own 10 year old is the tallest in her class and in her church group. She is probably pushing 5'3" herself. It is hard for people to remember that they are still KIDS on the inside, even if they are tall or developed for their age.
Answer:
here in parts of va atleast where i live u cant trick or treat after 12 yrs old. and in places like va beach its a misdamenor if u get caught .
Answer:
My son is 12 and he is going this year. He will probably go next year too. I figure he can go until he wants to stop. I am not bothered by older kids coming, in fact, I like to see the older neighborhood children come as I don't often get to see them otherwise. That being said, I think once they are 13 they should only go to homes of people we know well and not just aquaintances.
Answer:
I think stopping somewhere between 11-13 is appropriate. I believe I was 11 the last time I went. I just felt silly trick-or-treating after that age.
