What should I watch?!

Ask:
How pathetic is this - I'm asking for help on what to watch on TV!

We've been married 6 years. Dh and I have different views on TV, he would be glued to the History Channel if he could! Don't get me wrong, I like the channel too, but so much of it deals with WAR, past, present, future...when I watch TV I want to escape and not be more depressed than when I started. He also loves Primitime, 20/20, that kind of stuff. But there is only so much wife-murdering I can take on those shows too.

So anyway, since we compromise our TV viewing (after ds is in bed) consists of lets see...House Hunters, Designing for the Sexes, Food Network (he particularly likes Unwrapped and Good Eats) which I'm all for.

But I think it's time to come up with a better compromise. I'll 'let' him watch his Hisory once in awile if I can watch ~ something ~ once in awhile.

Ok, I'm dating myself...but the shows I really enjoyed watching were shows like "St. Elsewhere", " (story lines ~ not to tense or gory ~ I don't like that), "Party of 5", even "Desparate Housewives" when they didn't start playing a rerun after every new show. I gave up on that. I used to love "Melrose Place" for the sheer drama and rediculous-ness of the show, but most everything I like had a common thread ~ it was not a documentary it was more 'drama' related or at least story line related.

OK if you made it so far thanks...! Now, what do you all suggest I watch?!!!
Answer:

HAve you watched Gey's Anatomy? Great show, and What About Brian is along the lines of what you were talking about. House is always a good choice if you don't read too much into it (He's got an attitude(that I love, but some don't), but that's what makes House, House . Desperate Housewives is MUCH better this season.....Those are a few I can think of for the popular shows right now. Hope that helped a little
Answer:

You might like Ugly Betty, not sure if your dh will though! Dh will watch Greys with me.
Here is my list (Yes I watch to much however I dvr most so it takes less time.

Mon- Studio 60 (IMO a good couple show)
Tues-Law And Order SVU and Dancing with the Stars
Wed- The Nine
Thurs-Ugly Betty, Greys Anatomy and ER
Fri-Men In Trees
Sat- Usually a movie night
Sun-Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters

Just keep trying them out!
Answer:

I agree with 2Bearsmom about 'House'. It's a bit formulaic, but Hugh Laurie is a treat to watch.

One good compromise I could suggest is 'The Unit'. It's got stuff for both guys and gals. For guys, you've got the fighting/military stuff, which I surprisingly find interesting. For gals, you have all the stuff back home (making ends meet on a military salary, kids, etc.). It comes on tonight at 8 central after NCIS.

I'm a fan of all the CSIs. The silliest of them all is the Miami version that comes on Monday nights. It's fun to see how over-the-top and stupid they can get with that show. The other two CSIs are more normal and better acted.

I like the new show 'Shark' that comes on Thursdays at 9 central after CSI mothership. It's like 'House' in the courtroom. James Woods is the star. I was never really a fan of his until I watched 'Shark'. He really makes the show.

I also like to watch 'Cold Case', 'Without a Trace', and the occassional 'Law and Order' (any one of them) when it's not up against something else that I want to watch.
Answer:

ok, so we watched a lot of the same shows back when they were on! !!!

This is what I currently try to watch or DVR. (Which is like Tivo)

Mondays - What about Brian (on ABC at 10 pm) GREAT SHOW! (like a Melrose, I think you'd really like it!) If you can't stay up - try to record it. I love this show!
Tuesdays - I try to catch Gilmore Girls, but if I miss it, not biggie. Dh will NOT watch this with me
Thursdays - Survivor (CBS 8 pm) we watch together as a family, Grey's Anatomy (he will watch sometimes) (ABC 9 pm) and Six Degrees (ABC 10 pm)
Six Degrees is a new show this season and it's really good in my opinion. It has twists, romance, heart break, things you need to try to "figure" out. I recommend it and it's good for male and female audiences.
Sundays - America's Funniest Videos (we watch as a family w/ dd) (ABC 7 pm), Extreme Home makeover (ABC 8 pm) again we watch as a family - dd will sometimes go to bed 1/2 way through. Desperate Housewives (ABC 9 pm) MUCH better this season. So far no reruns. (hope I didn't just jinx us! !) Brothers & Sisters (ABC 10 pm) good show. I've seen a few and just started to DVR it to watch later.

Good luck with your tv viewing schedule!

I forgot the Unit...You'd laugh if I posted my 'what I watch schedule" I TIVO alot and then have to catch up there is so much...but we do watch the Unit faithfully every Tues (Tonight is a re-run though, so I'll play catch up on other shows) That one would be a great compromise for you and DH...you'll both enjoy it!
Answer:
