Black Friday Shopping Strategies - What are YOUR tips?

Ask:
Do you get there early? Do you have any secrets/tips?
Answer:

I'm normally one of those insane shoppers up at the midnight hour scoping out the deals, however this year I am going home to Canada over the Thanksgiving weekend so I won't be able to participate.

Each Thanksgiving Eve and Thanksgiving Day I line up all the flyers with gifts in mind. I then price compare. I usually go-it-alone because I can't stand holding someone up or having someone hold me up. I can get in and out of stores quickly if by myself.

I make a list of the gifts I still need to get and where they are all sale. I then decide which stores need to be visited first: based on how much I am getting at each. If I have to pick up four things at one store, I will hit that store first. The rest of the morning will most likely be me stopping for one or two things, if it's worth the stop.

But to be honest, with your help Kim, I saved a TON of money at Kohls last week. I got all my nephews and my sons toys bought for all under $55 with the help of a 10% off coupon too!!! I was very pleased with that. I don't think I could beat that at ANY Black Friday sale. And I did it from the privacy of my own home. AND I just got na email yesterday saying the items have already been shipped!!!!!
Answer:

There is a site that is assembling the adds for black friday. As the store design their adds, this sit is posting them to allow you plan well ahead. It's called blackfriday.com and right now there are about 4 adds currently posted with more to come. I heard about it on our local news this morning and checked it out. It's one you need to check back on closer to Thanksgiving, but it will allow you to come up with a plan for how and where you want to shop. I think I'm going to check it out the weekend before Thanksgiving when there will be lots more adds and I will have come up with a list of what I need so I'm not buying just to buy.
Answer:

anyone have the site for the deals yet?
Answer:

Wal-Mart will price match most of Target & K-Mart's adds, so I usually go there first get what I can matched and whatever Wal-mart has on sale, then go to the other stores. I'm usually done around 9:00 a.m.
Answer:

yah we usually do that too. If Walmart doesn't have the items we want to price match, we just go that store. I'm home before 11 am.
Answer:

my tip is to not go at all. I will on occasion go in the evening, after all the pyscho people are home. my other tip is to go without expecting to get anything you really want. that way when you don't get something you're not disappointed and you're open to seeing other items you would probably pass by.

Just FYI the site is blackfriday.info
Answer:

I've never tried it myself, but I know a lot of people find the deals they want on the BlackFriday sight and purchase them before BF. THen instead of getting up early hoping to get everything they want they simple take in their receipts and get it price matched for the current price. Seems like a good idea, but like I said, I haven't tried it yet myself.
Answer:

My hubby and I did that One year and yuck!!!! I waited in best buy for hours the line was wrapped around the store twice, they where out of one item we wanted along with everyone else and then they guy tells us that they only had gotten three in. Are they for real? With sites like this and online shopping I say stay home! I sound so awful but I hate crowds.
