Cheap idea for kids x-mas gift

Ask:
I was thumbing through a magazine the other day and seen an idea that you could make and give to children for Christmas. Just take a big plastic jar or container of your choice and fill it up with different craft things. Like a pair of childrens scissors, pompoms, pipe cleaners, buttons, craft stics, stickers, glue stick, construction paper, makers and anything else you might thing your child would like. Then make a lable ( i was thinking on the computer ) that says" I'm Not Bored Anymore Jar" and stick it on the container.
i thought it would be something that was cheap and easy and fun to give!

Something else i seen for girls was to take and fill a plastic container full of bows, hair things and lip gloss( and again anything else you think she may like ) and lable the outside with something like "Princess supplies" i thought it was kinda a cute idea.

I like to buy a few different sets of boxed stationary or blank note cards some pretty pens, stickers or stamps and ink pad and put it in a pretty box then tie it with some ribbon with a note attatched that says something about keeping in touch. That way the art of letter writing is not lost and everyone likes to reeive mail. I usually by the stationary throught the year on clearance or at the dollar store. Great gift for teenage girls.

That is a great idea, especially with being able to find so many of the things at craft stores or the dollar sections.

THANKS!

I love the idea of a craft box. I have been saving odds and ends and leftover bits for a few months to make a craft box for DS1 for Christmas. I hope to only have to pick up a few things to add to it. I like the princess supplies idea too for one of my little cousins.

These jar ideas are too cute! I especially like the clever lables ("Princess Supplies" and "I'm not bored . . . !") It reminds me of an inexpensive gift I'm going to put together this x-mas.

Buy a shallow, long rubbermaid container with a lid (approx. $5, the most expensive part of the gift); a 5 lb. bag of macaroni ($3.50 at wholesale club like Sam's); and misc. "gadgets" from the dollar store (a set of 3 funnels, a set of 4 wooden spoons, a measuring spoon & cup set, and a set of nesting bowls = total $4). The entire sensory box costs $13 but provides hours and hours of education & fun!

My son has had his macaroni bin since he was 2 yrs old. He is now 4 1/2 and still plays with it. You can even splurge and add a shower curtain liner (also at the dollar store) so kids are reminded that the macaroni has to stay on the mat. Plus clean-up is easier b/c you can lift up the liner and easily pour the macaroni back into the tub.

You can also do dry beans (they smell after a while); rice (harder to clean up); and cotton balls (they leave fuzzies everywhere) - but the parents of the gift recipient may not appreciate those as much as they would the easy macaroni! It really works the best!

I love this idea! And the macaronni one too. This idea is great for kids that have EVERYTHING already and it's not another $20 toy stuck in the corner collecting dust!

thsi year for dh's younger girl cousins, they are 8 and 11 i went to dollarma and bought them a scrapbook kit. its stickers and everything all together, including a book, and it only cost me a doolar a peice and it has everything they need to start a scrapbook. they had really cute ones there. and for the babies in the family we are buying them the cardboard animal books, that way they won't rip the pages and i know my kids loved them as infants (12-18 months age) and still like them now. and it saves me money. we also buy all our stocking stuffers at dollarama as well.
